PAIN
There are over 9,000 healthcare facilities in Kenya serving a population of over 45 million citizens. Most of the care is delivered by Non-Physician Clinicians (nurses and clinical officers). The clinicians lack the necessary support required to deliver the best care possible as a result of routine care not being guideline based because of poor support and inadequate documentation, and lack of readily available physicians for complicated cases.

Opportunity
Through the Paper EMR, which is a unique paper based interface for generating electronic medical records, clinicians are able to document case management while interacting with patients, data entered can be extracted in a digital form, the data can be analyzed forming the basis of improved quality health care.
The Gabriel is an innovative, low-cost tele-consultations platform which allows local providers to easily create and share digital medical information with a global network of highly skilled professionals in addressing complicated cases.

Global Impact
With Paper EMR and the Gabriel, patients who would ordinarily not access quality healthcare would get a chance to do so at an affordable rate.
