HomeGrown Solutions Winner: Catching Up With Care360

In December 2022, Care360 was announced as the winner of the Disruptive HomeGrown Solutions call during Kenya Innovation Week (KIW). The call was a partnership between the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) and Villgro Africa and was designed to search for Kenyan healthcare entrepreneurs with solutions, devices, technologies or software that have the potential to ensure affordable healthcare to all Kenyans.

Applications were received from exciting, innovative companies from across the country that are working to solve some of Kenya’s most significant healthcare challenges. The program culminated in a business pitching contest, award ceremony, and investment engagement event during KIW. It started with a session where each organisation had the chance to pitch their business to a panel of judges. More About Care360

Care360

Our first prize winner, Care360 Xalco Ltd, has three primary operations, impacting both the supply and demand of healthcare services in Kenya. Firstly, Care360 Powered by Ujuzi Fursa Africa is a training institute for young people, helping them to become internationally certified caregivers. Secondly, Care360 at Home provides employment opportunities for their trained health workers, where after training these graduates can provide quality, affordable care to support daily living and outpatient services in the homes of their patients. Finally, their Care360 facility is a a specialised centre for post-op, post-discharge, respite and palliative care. At this clinic location, they holistically rehabilitate patients with a multidisciplinary team that provides quality and affordable care.

The Villgro Africa team recently had the chance to visit them at their facility and get an update on how they're doing and all that they've been up to since Kenya Innovation Week. Winning the Disruptive HomeGrown Solutions prize has benefited their growth as a business by, not only providing their team with extra motivation, but also the opportunity to use the prize money to purchase high-quality skills lab equipment for their trainees.
