The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought about a high demand for Personal Protective Equipment. For countries like Ethiopia the high cost of disinfecting the equipment and their hospitals can put a burden on their healthcare costs as the cases of COVID-19 continue to rise. Their front line workers continually face the risk of contracting the virus without proper and effective measures to disinfect their areas of work.
The locally assembled UVC apparatus is fitted with UVC lamps (8 watts) that emit high intensity ultraviolet light that is able to kill microorganisms and pathogens including COVID-19 found on surfaces in the room. It has the ability to disinfect up to 40 square meters of a room at any given time.
The UVC room sterilizer is intended for use in hospital rooms, wards and medical equipment where the virus is most likely to spread. As countries open up it can be used to disinfect public places like schools, airports and public bus spaces to help reduce cases of COVID-19.
